Time Lapse

Don’t you sometimes wish life were like time lapse photography? I do! What if it could be?

The picture above is a composite of various stages from bud to bloom. I had the luxury of spending a week in a cabin by the woods near a lake where this lily grew. That sounded like a song.  🙂

Anyway, each day I would observe something new as the flower changed. The great thing about time lapse photography is others get to experience the different stages as if they were there too. What if you only had one day and the flower was still a bud? You would maybe never get to see it in its full-bloom glory. Sitting around and waiting for it to open would take days as it did for me. No, I did not just sit there and watch, but the anticipation made me come back to the same spot each day and at the same time, until it opened. Isn’t this kind of like life? I mean sometimes we are so excited we just can hardly wait. It’s like a kid that can’t sleep and can’t wait until Christmas morning! Wouldn’t it be great if we could put life and the things we want on speed dial or like time lapse photography? We can. It’s called goals!

Think about that, isn’t the goal of lily to bud and finally to blossom and bloom? It doesn’t think about it, it just grows. Setting goals is just like that. We set our hearts on something we want and need. The trick is to see ourselves having our heart’s desire. We are into it. We live it and breathe it. We must be like the lily, become the bloom you want to see. Become your own time lapse photography.

When the goal is reached it is kind of anticlimactic, we have already seen ourselves bloom.

Just Imagine,

Dahni
