Full Measure

The measure of a man
and the worth of a woman is…

To stand when all others in fear still sit
or to stand even though you are sitting.
To sit even though forced to stand.
To direct their own determination
or to turn if detoured, but maintain self-direction.
To march in the parades of their own making
and to make the parades of others their own
and to lead their own parades
and to enjoy the parades of others, as one among the crowd.
To humbly grasp the hands offered when you fall
And to extend your hands to those that have fallen.
To right the wrongs of your own soul
and to mirror this model to the world.
To live and love and laugh and to make yourself loavable
To live as if it is your first
and as if it is your last day.
To seek to excel and fly to the heights of imagination
and without wavering
to rise again after every fall,

For this is…

The measure of a man and the worth of a woman.
